Down Memory Lane

Memories of a night which died a thousand deaths

to give birth to a day which never came

haunt me like worn out pages of a diary

I never filled.

The hollow words etched push through my skin

they echo.

Songs of deluded promise fill the air.

I walk alone, lost in darkness,

My heart in hand, my perception lost.

My steps tremble.

My blood runs cold.

I fight the memories I once cherished.

I tear down the castle I built,

brick by brick.
